The tradition of Carol singing in the village has been a regular part of Christmas every year since time immemorial and nobody I've asked is quite sure when the organised two nights around the village on behalf of The Children's Society began, but the gentle fall of snow added a touch of Christmas magic to proceedings beyond even the normal level of good will that surround these proceedings as the group of intrepid wassailers sung their way around the village.
After entertaining the tenants of School Crescent and School Road on their way to their finishing point at the Barnardiston Arms on the Monday Night a slightly smaller group braved a bitterly cold night on Tuesday to serenade the Westward Deals estate but eventually the freezing weather curtailed their efforts. At this point carollers withdrew to the Barnardiston Arms and were particularly grateful for the food laid on there including warming soup with rolls and Mince Pies. A warming repast well earned by the carollers who raised a total of £128 for the Children's Society.
