Record Year at Kedington Horticultural Show
This year's Kedington Horticultural Show held at St.Peter And St.Paul's Church on Saturday set a new record with 33 different entrants and just under 300 separate entries in various horticultural and culinary classes.
Quantity was not achieved at the cost of quality with horticultural judge Les Moulton describing the exhibits as "Of a high Standard." with some entries receiving extra merit. Some categories has so many good entires Les said he had to get "Very picky."
When Barbara Moulton, the judge of the culinary section was asked about the quality of this year's entries she gave a thumbs up and said "Mmm mm mm mmmh." She was judging the apple pies at the time.
Trophy winners this year were:
- Bob and Brenda Parkin, winner of The Keddy Trophy for most points scored over all with a score of 85 (narrowly beating John Brett with 81).
- Ann Farrent, winner of The Les Moulton Trophy for Best In Show (Horticultural) for her cooking apples.
- Terry Claydon, winner of The Barbara Moulton Trophy for Best in Show (Culinary) For his Apple Pie.
- Jill Davis, Winner of The Jeannie Lee Memorial Trophy for Best Container Of Six Stems Of Mixed Garden Flowers.
Much of the Produce exhibited was auctioned off after the show raising £143.70 for church funds.
If you are planning to enter for next year the time to start turning your soil over is towards the end of this month.
