.htaccess files are never seen or downloaded by the viewers web browsers, instead it gives instructions to the web server on which the site is hosted. In this case the instruction was to redirect anyone coming in from a list of locations like popular search engines. This files have now been removed and other security measures take. Our web hosts have been asked to check our site to double check that no trace of the attack is left, but nothing was found on the server that would have caused any harm to site visitors.
KedingtonNews.co.uk would like to thank Mrs Barbara Surrage and the staff at Kedington Library for their assistance in uncovering this attack.
