On Thursday evening a large group of Kedington children turned out under the watchful eyes of proud parents to receive their rewards for successful completion of The Library's Quest Seekers summer reading challenge.
This year's challenge based on a fantasy theme has sent the village's children on a quest to read six books over the summer holiday. Each had to be by a different author and at least one had to be a non-fiction book. Favourite books this year included the Mr Gum books, Daisy Meadows' Fairy Books and books by Roddy Doyle as well better known authors like Roald Dahl and Jacqueline Wilson.
This year proved a particular success with 73 boys and girls completing the quest up from 56 last year. One parent said she believed this was down to the new head librarian Teresa Bailey who has been popular with the children.
Prizes were given out by the head teacher of Kedington Primary School Mr Woodward, Ably assisted by County Councillor Anne Gower, PC Trish Sinclair and Librarian Teresa Bailey.
The Quest may be over but children of all ages are always welcome at the Library with events all year round. Pop in and ask the librarians or watch our Events page for further details.
