Local gardeners and farmers breathed a sigh of relief on Tuesday as Kedington experienced it's first notable rain fall in over a month. With no rain beyond a few minuets of drizzle for the whole of September and the lawns and greens of the village turning brown many of the normal autumn work in peoples gardens including end of season lawn care has been kept on hold. Now gardeners are looking forward to clearing their lawns of the summer's detritus.
Farmers on the other hand can at last look forwards to soil soft enough to allow use of a seed drill. Some have already had to concede that it is too late to plant a crop of Rape for this year and plan instead for other crops. The seed from this year should keep till next year, but with the cost of obtaining seed for an alternate crop and storing the Rape seed till next year some farmers will find their already tight budgets pushed to the limit.
More rain is predicted for Thursday and Saturday.
