Kedington news can reveal that what Haverhill's town clerk Gorden Mussett claimed was "Some agreement reached with Kedington" was a conversation with one representative of the parish council who told them that they would put the proposals before the parish council. It is understood by Kedington news that most parish councillors are currently against the changes.
The changes won't lead to any houses or other properties changing hands but instead takes the farmland that St Edmundsbury Council have earmarked in their proposals for the Local Development Framework (LDF) for Haverhill's expansion towards Kedington.
This move pre-empts the LDF and also proposals by the new government to change planning laws giving residents of rural parishes such as Kedington the the right to block large building projects such as housing estates by a vote of parishioners. This means that the boundary changes would effectively rob Kedington of what would have been it's right to vote on the expansion.
The next Parish council meeting will be on the 21st of September.
