Kedington FC Suffer End Of Year Slip.
Kedington entered November with a one point lead and a game in hand at the top of the Halstead League and looked to continue thier winning ways in thier first match of that month, dominateing Acton the first half and takeing a one point lead thanks to an impressive goal from a wide angle by Lee Phillips. The second half although goalless showed a solid defence from Kedington showing the stamina to keep up a solid game for the whole 90 minuets.
With nearestchallenger Glemsford busy getting knocked out of the cup this alloed Kedington to extend thier lead to a solid 4 points.
Glemsford were unable to pull back any points the following week while Kedington were busy knocking Clare Reserves out of the Chalenge Cup, but when Clare returned to The Meadow the following week they came with a strong appitiete for revenge. Clare hit the pitch with a level of agression that was to see many arguments with the refferee, but also two goals against Kedington who found them selves unable to respond even when Clares agression boiled over in to a dangerous tackle which saw one of thier number sent off (after ten minuet argument that also saw one of Clares supporters sent away from the pitch). Clare still did not let up however and the closest Kedington could get the ball to thier opponents goal mouth in the first half was to rattle the cross bar. The second half saw Kedington resurgent and soon they managed to narrow Clare's lead when Lee Philips Slammed the ball in ball in to the top of the net. Clares Defence remained sturdy however and come the final wistle Kedington had still not been able to pull back the points goal deficit and Clares revenge was compleat with Kedington suffering it's first defeat of the season at the hands of a team that until that point had yet to tase victory.
Thus with Clare pulling it's self off the bottom of the Kedington saw thier lead at the top slashed to one.
The early blast of winter weather was then to hit the fixtures list and Kedington would not play again until mid-December. It was not the match Kedington had been waiting for. Middle of the league Acton had never looked to be an easy match but a victory would have been a great boost to moral. Certainly Kedington's performance it's self should be a boost for moral especially concidering that the side was very much patched up due to injuries, but despite looking the better team they found themselves two goals down by half time with no reply but rattleings of the cross bar and the Acton keeper. In the second half Acton would score again before Kedington finally managed to get on the score card. Within the last quater hour Kedington manged to put away two goals and must have felt hard done by not to have equalised.
Thus suffering thier second loss of the season Kedington FC were to learn that Glemsford had managed to claim a 5-3 victory against Punch 68 putting them two points ahead of K.F.C
Kedington had hoped for a chane to reclaim the lead in thier last match of the year but alas weather would again take a hand. With thier last game canceled Kedington will go in to the New year in second place. Thier first match of the new year should be against Punch 68 and kedington will be hopeing to have recovered from thier injury woes and take a mightier victory than Glemsford did.
